Easy 45 minute run in Amherst through Echo Hill. I was neurotically thinking about how my sesamoid felt and I did sense a bit of tightness, but there was really no pain during the run.
I loaded up the iPod with some Ratatat beats to try to keep my mind clear.

Damn I'm Cold
Time: 56:40
Distance: 8.25 mi.
Early morning run before leaving Amherst, hopefully somewhat permanently. My legs were a bit shot from yesterday's run and it was 7 degrees when I headed out the door fairly well bundled up. I was hoping to get in 60-70 minutes, but I was stiff, cold and tired, so when the loop brought me back towards the house, I just finished it up.
And without further ado: Bun B and Lil' Wayne - Damn I'm Cold

Amherst Loop
Time: 76:18
Distance: 11.5 mi.
Map
Decent afternoon run in Amherst. The roads aren't completely clear from the recent snow, so I had to stay on fairly well-trafficked roads. I went out through Echo Hill to Amherst Road and did a lollypop around the high school and town before heading back.

Not Gonna Happen!
Time: 46:30
Distance: 6.25 mi.
I aborted a 2 hour run after about 25 minutes. It was 32 degrees and raining--black ice city. I guess I will have to try to get it in tomorrow.

Echo Hill, Amethyst Brook
Time: 60:00
Distance: 8.5 mi.
Headed out for no particular distance, just starting to get back in the routine (though I finished right at 60 minutes). Headed through the Echo Hill trails to Amethyst Brook and ran back on South Valley and Harkness. Hamstring and right plantar pretty tight on this chilly morning.
I did some post-run hamstring strengthening and stretching exercises which will be part of the regular schedule until this thing starts feeling more normal.

Echo Hill, Amethyst Brook

Distance: 7.5 mi.
The view from my bedroom window this morning
I return to New England to find it already deep in true autumn. Seriously jetlagged and having been awake for a good portion of the night, I got out relatively early with no particular intended distance. I wanted to be on the trails, so I headed into Echo Hill and did a short loop in Amethyst Brook. My legs feel like Jell-O and my right hamstring was tight and sore throughout the run.

Echo Hill Loop
Time: 43:30
Distance: 6 mi.
The soreness from Wednesday's work was even more pronounced today, particularly in my hamstrings. For that reason, plus lingering feelings of sickness and lethargy, I only went short this morning and will try to do something this afternoon. I don't think I've felt particularly good on a run in almost two weeks. What am I doing?!

Echo Hill Loop
Time: 34:10
Distance: 5 mi.
Short loop for a double run through Echo Hill from home in Amherst. My legs felt surprisingly good, probably because of the run this morning.

Echo Hill Loop
Time: 35:06
Distance: 5 mi.
Easy afternoon run around Echo Hill. I saved a baby snapping turtle which was destined to be squashed in the road. It is very humid.

Echo Hill Loop
Time: 45:00
Distance: 6 mi.
Slow morning run around Echo Hill. Legs feel pretty shot and I'm tired. I haven't been sleeping well. I put off and then gave up on the second run of the day.

Bike Path, Echo Hill Trails
Time: 76:00
Distance: 10.5 mi.
Easy morning run with John Tyson again. I headed out the door thinking that I was going to run 90 minutes, but the stiffness in my legs from getting on the track yesterday informed me otherwise. I did 30 minutes on the bike path before meeting up with John, and then we looped around the Echo Hill Trails, which were a little muddy, but not too bad. Maybe I'll do that mid-long run tomorrow.

Harkness, Amethyst Brook, Echo Hill
Time: 68:40
Distance: 10 mi.
Entrance to Amethyst Brook
Morning run with John Tyson. I met him at his house and we ran out Harkness and over to Amethyst, mosty avoiding the trails that were fairly muddy from last night's run. The trails in Amethyst Brook weren't too bad, though, and we did a short loop without heading up Mount Orient at all. We came back directly through Echo Hill and Old Farm Road. I added on about 2 minutes at the end to make sure I hit 10 miles.
My hip and glute were stiff, but not quite as sore as yesterday.

Echo Hill, Rosen Loop
Time: 92:30
Distance: 13.5 mi.
Map
Looking East down Station Road near the end of the Rosen Loop
I'm working on getting back on the Wednesday-Sunday longer run schedule. I started off doing the short loop through Echo Hill to get in about 30 minutes before meeting up with John Tyson, who wanted to go about an hour. I was fairly tight out the door, particulalry in my glute/piriforms, which continued throughout the run despite stretching it out a few times. It was sneaky-humid, too, as it wasn't that hot, but even by about 4 miles I was sweating quite a bit. The pace slowed some towards the end of the Rosen Loop before I dropped John off at his house, which was fine with me.

Time: 48:00
Distance: 7 mi.

Easy evening run with Taylor and John Tyson. Legs were a little bit dead this morning so I was wondering how they might feel this afternoon, but they were definitely better after being "warmed up."
