Central Park Jog

Time: 28:00
Distance: 4 mi.

New Year's Day jog with 3/4 of the Brown '06 contingent. Craigger, Tushar and I were missing Jokin, who was holding it down on the left coast, but it was good to sweat it out with these guys. This was an easy run, and I'm not going to ruin Craigger's "4 mile" loop by telling him that it is short. Tushar even made the decision to wear pants without consulting anyone! Maybe things do change as the years pass...

Fartlek in the Squan

Time: 64:50
Distance: 10 mi.

Target: Two sets of a fartlek ladder - 1:00 (1:00), 2:00 (1:00), 3:00 (1:00), 2:00 (1:00), 1:00 (1:00)
Workout: Good sub-tempo effort throughout

Fairly happy with this workout around a loop near Craig and Corey's place in Manesquan on the Jersey shore. Craig was worthless to do the warmup with me, as he told me he would try to do, but I did rope him in for the cooldown. A total of 28 minutes of workout time, with 18 minutes at sub-tempo pace.

Central Park

Time: 84:21
Distance: 12 mi.

Bridge in Central Park

A fairly nice run in Central Park from Craig's place on West 48th. I headed up there with Craig and Cory who were shooting for about 5 miles and ran to the reservoir. After they turned back I did a big loop around the northern section of the park and then a smaller loop around just the reservoir. I was shooting for 80 minutes, but miscalculated a bit at the end. I was fairly hot and dehydrated by the time I got back.

Boulevard, Hard Mile, Freeman

Time: 35:00
Distance: 5 mi.

It started as an easy run from the OMAC. Then, for some genius reason, we decided to add in some challenges. After running down the Boulevard and starting back up towards the track, Coste decided he wanted to see if he could run a fast mile. Jordan and I got in for the pacing job and next thing we were running around the track in blazing sub-75 pace. We ended up running 4:47.

Then, as we headed back, Craig decided he wanted to see what he could run a Freeman in, shooting for 68. We charged up it and sneaked in just under... 67.7 or so.

Good times. Maybe we should institute a REAL mile at Brown commencement every year.

2008!

Time: 86:30
Distance: 12.5 mi.

Mid-afternoon run with Neely (and Craig on his bike) in Central Park. Body is pretty beat in general and the sore throat is somewhat worse, but once I get on a semi-normal sleep pattern again, I will definitely feel a lot better. I was a bit under-dressed as well and was pretty cold most of the way. Between the bridal path and the various other paths and the big road loop, Central Park seems like a pretty great place to train.

Providence Loops

Time: 70:00
Distance: 9.5 mi.

Morning run in Providence after last night's Brown Cross Country alumni dinner. Wasn't feeling too sharp and I wanted to run with/encourage some of the guys to run, so I went on a 3? mile loop with Craig and Hamel which was about 8 min. pace. When we got back, I picked up Coste for 6+ miles down and back the Boulevard toward St. Ray's.

Boone Bound

We're headed to Boone, NC this afternoon for the Blue Ridge Open and to get some training in at Zap Fitness. I was able to make it there once about a year and a half ago when Craigger and I were driving down to Austin to visit Brendan.

We got in a good run at Moses Cone Park, and explored the local scene (sometimes frightfully at the hands of Brendan's driving)

Also, Flotrack has a few videos from Zap this fall.

IF

Time: 24:00
Distance: 3 mi.

Easy run on IF with Craigger just after he got in town... He's on a streak on his vacation which works out great for a doublerun for me. Very hot and humid, and still dehydrated from this morning.
